The Card Concept Challenge #70-Purple Haze

Hello my stampy friends!!
Hope everyone is having a great week!
We are starting a new challenge today here at

Look at these gorgeous purples!

Each designer at the Card Concept chooses a different style of card to make!  All of the styles are explained HERE.
You can use any of the styles we have defined or create your own with a combination of styles.

This week I chose the Freestyle Collage style.

  • unrelated elements in a collection
  • can be done in any style

COLOR ALERT!!!!

I had just received my very first Ken Oliver ColorBurst watercolor powders, so I was dying to try them out! WOW! They are so much fun!!!

I wet some watercolor paper with water and a brush. Then I spritzed the wet paper with the ColorBurst powders. I used Orchid, Fuchsia and Lime Green Colorburst powders. After the paper dried, I splattered it with some Blue Gold and White Gold splatters from my Gansai Tambi Starry  Colors paint set.

I decided to highlight the gold in the inspiration photo with the Big Hello (MFT). It was die cut with gold foil paper.

I die cut a large star from SU vellum with the Shaker Shapes (PTI) die. The black star strip was die cut with the MFT Star border die. I added clear droplets to finish my collage card!

I hope you will be inspired to join us here at

Paper Sweeties March 2017 Release Rewind!

Hello my stampy friends!
Welcome to the Paper Sweeties REWIND Party!

It's time to show you how easy it is to mix the newest Paper Sweeties Stamps and Sweet Cuts with older releases to make all kinds of cards and projects!

Here is my card!

I created the blue panel by stamping the large cup from Keep Calm Drink Coffee over and over with Versamark ink. Next I heat embossed the images with clear embossing powder.  I used the matching Sweet Cut and die cut a coffee cup in this panel. Before I popped it onto the card base with foam adhesive, I stamped the coffee cup image.

The little birdies are from the NEW You Warm My Hear

and the older  I Love Summer stamp sets.
The sentiment was stamped onto one of the Sweet Borders dies! I LOVE these dies!!! I use them ALL the time!

Please visit my talented

Card Concept Challenge # 68-

Hello! It's time for a new challenge here at

And just look as this GORGEOUS inspiration photo!

I was immediately inspired by the rich colors of the flowers against the gray chair.

I used one of my newer Stampin Up stamps-Avant Garden.
I wanted to try a technique that I saw on the Penny Black blog. She colors her stamps
with Distress Markers, and then blends each image with a water brush. It gives this cool watercolor look. I really like the results!

Each designer chooses a different style of card to make!
All of the styles are explained HERE.
You can use any of the styles we have defined or create your own with a combination of styles.

This week I chose the Clean and Layered style:
  • clean lines
  • lots of layers
  • designer papers/embossing
  • embellishments/accents
  • clean and fresh looking
  • some coloured images at times
  • white space

I hope you will be inspired to join us here at

Card Concept Challenge #68-Aqua & Lime

Hello! I hope you are doing well. I think Spring has arrived early here in the Piedmont area of North Carolina and I love it!! However...that means allergy season, too! YUK!!!

It's time for a new challenge here at the Card Concept.

Every two weeks we post a new inspiration photo challenge.
Each designer chooses a different style of card to make!
All of the styles are explained HERE.
You can use any of the styles we have defined or create your own with a combination of styles.

This week I chose the Classy & Elegant style:

  • polished
  • shiny finish
  • sparkling embellishments
  • rich colour scheme
  • sophisticated sentiments
  • regal
  • sweeping
  • dramatic
  • monochromatic
  • layered textures
  • awe
  • impress
And here is my card:

I used the stamp set Flower Sparks ( Penny Black) . First,  I would ink a flower stamp with  distress ink, give it a spritz of water and then stamp it onto watercolor paper. When the images were dry, I stamped them again with the same inks, but did not spritz them with water. I used Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio and Peacock Feathers Distress inks. I think these colors are so beautiful together!

The sentiment is from the stamp set YOU (Simon Says). I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment onto some vellum. And the YOU was die cut with silver glitter paper. I added some clear dew drops for some dimension.

I hope you will be inspired to join us here at
And don't forget to visit my very talented team mates for some fabulous inspiration!

Paper Sweeties March 2017 Inspiration Challenge

Hello everybody! Hope you are having as pretty weather as we are having right now! I just love these 72 degree days!!! I'm just praying we don't get a cold snap!  Because I'm ready for Spring!

It is time for a new Inspiration Challenge here at  PAPER SWEETIES!

PinkBlack And Bright Green!

I was immediately inspired by the pretty pink tulips and the black board in the picture.

The flowers are from the Paper Sweeties Pretty Posies stamp set. I stamped them with black Archival ink onto Bristol White smooth paper. I colored the flowers were Zig Clean Brush markers and a water brush. Next I cut thin strips of green card stock to make some long stems.  The silver swirls were die cut with Paper Sweeties Sweet Cut set-Sweet Borders.

The jar is Paper Sweeties Sweet Cut -Mason Jar. I die cut it with vellum paper and some silver foil paper. I fussy cut the top of the silver one and adhered it to the vellum die cut. And then tied some black and white baker's twine around the top.

The sentiment is from Paper Sweeties Hello Friend stamp set. It was stamped onto another Sweet Cut from the Sweet Borders die set.

I hope I have inspired you to want to join us this month! We love seeing your creations! You could be chosen to be a Guest Designer or win a $20 gift card to the Paper Sweeties Shoppe!
