Beautiful Harvest

I wanted to share this journal page that I made after seeing a beautiful photo on Pinterest.
I would love to show you that photo, but I am unable to load it here.
I created this page mainly with Gelatos!

First I prepared my paper by painting the entire surface with Gesso

Then I started coloring with the Gelatos.
They color like crayons and come in lots of different colors.

Look what happens when it is blended all together with a brush and water!
This is what I love about Gelatos! They are so smooth and easy to work with.
Lots cleaner than paints and stains! Hey, but I love those, too!

Next I need to start adding texture with stencils, stamps and more Gelatos!

Now I have cut out shapes of pumpkins and gourds with Tim Holtz tissue paper. I glued them down with Modge Podge. I colored around the shapes with a gray Gelato and smeared it with my finger to shade the different shapes. Easy! Peasy!

Added more colors and shading with the Gelatos.

After I was satisfied with the coloring, I wanted to add more details and texture.
I did this with paint splatters and stamping. I cut out leaves in some white card stock with my new Serendipity stamps. LOVE these!!! And then colored the leaves with Distress Inks.

The sentiment was stamped on a wooden label form Studio Calico.

More leaves, twine and button.

And the finished product:

I am gonna frame this and use for part of my Thanksgiving decorations.
I hope you like my page and have maybe learned a little something about Gelatos!

Funky Junky Style Christmas Tag #2

I recently discovered a blog named Funky Junky! She has gorgeous mixed media creations, as well as a shop! Apparently, every year she has a challenge that she refers to as

This is Funky Junky Tag #2:

I just loved this tag with the reindeer and the stars! So I thought I would give it a try!

And here is my tag:

I started by using Blue Sapphire Distress Ink for the background.  I then added texture with stamps, silver embossed snowflakes, stenciling with fiber paste and some white crackle paint. i was trying to make a nighttime scene, with the snow falling.
I do not own the Tim Holtz reindeer, so I had to freehand sketch it on card stock and then fussy cut it out. Then I triple embossed it with silver embossing powder, which I stamped before it dried. I saw this technique mentioned on the Laurart blog (another newly discovered blog) . Isn't it cool???
The stars were also heat embossed in silver and then sprinkled with Rock Candy glitter. The seam binding was white, which I stained with the Blue Sapphire distress ink.
I am adding this to my Christmas tag collection!

Muse #40

I created this card after I saw the beautiful card below designed by the very talented and incredibly funny... Darnell Knauss, who just happens to be this week's guest designer/muse for the current
 MUSE #40 Challenge.

Darnell Kraus

Darnell's card is not only gorgeous, but you must visit her blog and read the post that goes with it! She was so inspirational! I was inspired by the flowers and the colors of the card.
I wanted to incorporate some vellum. I have recently been seeing lots of vellum being used on different projects, which I think is beautiful! So...I thought I would give it a try.

First I made my background paper by stamping blooms and leaves on white card stock in pink and green. Next I stamped the same blooms on vellum and heat embossed with white embossing powder.
I attached this to the background paper with some glue dots. I was a little nervous that the glue dots may show thru, but they didn't! Whew!

I then added a sentiment. I thought this card would be perfect for a wedding card!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Oops Santa!

As I said in an earlier post, I am working on some Christmas tags.
Well...this was the beginning of a tag that I had made the background, stamped the image, used some Perfect Pearls and red Stickles. You know, coming right along, looking like what I was visualizing. Then I went to stamp a sentiment, and what do I do????
I stamped it upside down!!!! #*!#*
But then my friend says...just cut it off and use for another tag or card. So I looked on blog land and found this wonderful sketch:

And this is what I made!

Yay!
Just turn those lemons into lemonade!

Snowman Tag

Just wanted to share a tag that I made for Christmas. I am finally starting to think about it! Yikes!
I had so much fun playing with this new Tim Holtz stamp and die set that I just received in the mail.

First I used Peeled Paint and Pumice Stone Distress inks on my craft pad and spritzed with water. I dragged the card thru the inks and then set it with a heat gun.  I spritzed the tag with some water and heat set again. I love that look! Then I dragged it thru some Barn Door Distress ink. I wanted color, but not real dark.
I stamped the snowman, and then I colored him a little with Picket Fence Distress paint. More coloring was done with Distress Markers, except for the holly and berries. For these, I used Perfect Pearls and Stickles. His eyes and mouth are Liquid Pearl.
I heat embossed the sentiment with black embossing powder.
The crinkle ribbon was white, which I stained with the Barn Door Distress Ink.

I think he turned out pretty!

I think I will link him up to Simon Says Wednesday Christmas Challenge!

Fall Flowers and Leaves

Hello!!! Just popping in to share another card that I have made.
I followed the wonderful sketch made by Jennifer Timko for

And this is my card!

I just love the cooler temperatures of fall. It has been late coming here in the Piedmont, so our leaves haven't really started turning yet! So I decided to make some pretty fall leaves of my own!
Hope you will like my card!

Death By Chocolate

Can you tell what I've been craving????
Nothing better, I say!!!!
I have a girlfriend who loves chocolate better than anyone else I know! And it's her birthday!
So I just knew this stamp set called a Chocolate Affair (Close to My Heart) would be perfect to make her a card! I stamped all of the sentiments with Versamark and then heat embossed them with some chocolate embossing powder. I then did the the same thing with the brownies/fudge, and fussy cut them out. They look delicious in real life. All shiny!!! Wish I had some! They are attached to the twine with foam tape. I thought this turned out to be a funny and cute card. What do ya think?

Retrosketches

Happy Thursday!!!

I just wanted to share my card that I made for the
Retrosketches #83 Sketch Challenge

The sketch is from a card that Laurie of Soapbox Creations created.
I LOVED that card and was blown away by the second one she made for Retrosketches!
So I emailed her to let her know and told her that I wanted to participate if I could figure out the design. Well...she emailed me back and told me how to do it!!! Was that sweet or what!

So this is what I came up with!

Hope you like it!

Thank You

Good morning! I have a need to make some thank you cards. I have had so many good friends and family help us since my knee surgery! I wanted to make some bright and cheerful thank you cards, so when I saw the current ColourQ Color Challenge, I knew what my colors would be!!!

Aren't these colors wild and wonderful???

And here is my card:

The dp panel behind the owl is orange and yellow, but try as I might, it kept looking red in the photos!!

This square card was so much fun to make!
Just perfect for my needs, so I made several!

One Big Hug

This is my attempt for the current Capture the Moment-make it monday challenge.
I had almost the exact stamp set, so I had to try it! I did not get as good a shadow image as Nicole does!
I made some other cards like this too, but I ended up just smudging some ink in the background instead of stamping it.

I do love these colors!!!!
