I am seeing more and more mixed media. Even SplitcoastStampers has a mixed media challenge now!
Well...I have been a little slow to jump on this band wagon. I really love looking at all of the beautiful mixed media creations in blog land. I checked out a couple of YouTube videos and saw this video and thought I would give it a try. This is what I came up with:
I was very pleased with how these cards turned out!
I sketched a cake on a piece of white card stock. I cut strips of different designer papers and used ModgePodge to adhere them to the sketch on the card stock. I then brushed ModgePodge over the entire cake. Let it dry, then cut it out. When dry, I stamped the cake with various stamps in black Archival Ink. I used Distress markers to shadow the layers. And used a FaberCastell Pitt Pen to outline the layers. Added some buttons and bows and bling...tada!!!
Pretty cakes!!!
I am definitely gonna try this mixed media again and go a little bolder each time!
A little Gesso, a little splatter.
First cards....then GASP!!!...canvas????? Who knows?

Mackie these are out of this world!!! They also remind me of decorative suitcases all stacked up. You paper and colr choices are perfect for your cards. Canvas you say...can't wait ;)

Mixed media sounds so arty and difficult but your explanation makes it seem possible! I love what you did here and the colours are so vibrant.
