Awww...love is in the air!

Good friends of mine are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary!  I decided to make a romantic card for them.  I feel that butterflies, flowers and wrought iron gates fit that catagory!

The colors were inspired by the  CR84FN color challenge:

and the VLVAPR2012 Week One Sketch Challenge:

The DP's are Botanicals (Prima) and Rustic Cream (PTI). The large butterfly was made with a Spellbinders die and the smaller butterflies are made with a Martha Stewart punch. The beautiful gate was cut on my Cricut with the Ornamental Iron 2 Cricut cartridge. The sentiment is from a stamp set that I do not know the name of.

I can't wait to celebrate this special anniversary with my friends!

Happy Sunday! 

I have a had a fun day working in my craft room. You are supposed to relax on this day, and I don't know of any better way!!!!!  So today I had fun playing with this month's last 

Viva La Verve Sketch Challenge  for Week 4.

The last week's sketch is to be CAS!

Well , this is pretty hard for me, but I tried to restrain myself!

The little chickie was paper pieced. I stamped him from the Chicks Rule (Verve) stamp set onto some cute polka dot paper from MME Miss Caroline 6x6 pad. 

I decided to have him looking out the window of a barn! I die cut the frame of the window with the Rounded Scallop Frame (Verve). I then fussy cut the flowers from the paper and placed them around the window. I put some Star Dust Spickles glitter glue on to some of the flowers.  I just love the little white cloud (Lil Inkers Rainbow & Clouds die).  I also tied some ribbon and twine around the middle of the card, plus a button to give it a little more oomph!

Viva La Verve March 2012 Sketch Challenge Week 3

Hello! Hope all is well! 

I have a quick post of a card I made last night when I was with my scrapping group!

Most of the girs are scrapping away, and here I am making cards! I do feel guilty as my pages and photos pile up around me, but...oh well! Stamping is my first love!!!!!

And I wanted to make a card using this great sketch for
Viva La Verve Sketch Challenge by Maureen Plut:

And....here is my card!

The colors are very muted in this photo! The papers are from My Mind's Eye-Lost & Found-Portobello Road 6x6 pad. They are gorgeous!!!!!! I wish my camera would do them justice!

So the papers made this card! Not much stamping!

I used the Classy Label Die (Verve) for the sentiment panel. It was stamped with the Love Notes (Verve) stamps set. The words are from a "thank you for your purchase" gift from Verve. The scallops were made with a SU scallop punch. I just cut it in two and adhered the 2 halves to the top and bottom of the Classy Label die cut. All of the pieces were inked with London Fog (Memento) ink.

 I put  pale blue ribbon behind the sentiment panel and then tied some twine to the left side. 

This was all adhered to a Kraft card base.

As you can see above, I am still loving the pink and orange colors!

I think it may be because spring is here!! And it has been beautiful here in North Carolina!

This card was created using the kissing stamp technique illustrated on this week's Making it Monday challenge #57 at Papertrey Ink. It made me realize 2 things! One I have NO solid stamp images...and second I have very few PTI stamps! I have lots of their dies and inks and sentiment stamping sets! 

So, I used  their Beautiful Blooms II stamp set. Even though the stamps are not solid, I think I still got a great result! You can see it better in real life than in this photo.

I used swirls2build (Stamps of Life) to kiss the flower stamps.

I made a 3-D flower for the sentiment. I made it by building layers of paper with the 1 1/2 circle punch and scallop punch from Stampin Up. I then made "grass" with a Martha Stewart punch.
Since I can't get my sewing machine to work, I stamped the right edge with
a Kraftin Kimmie set called In Stitches!

 And of course I had to add some bling...pink rhinestones!

Another birthday!

Hi there! Happy Terrific Tuesday! I work with a girl who has a name like this for every day of the week!

Yes...she is Miss Sunshine! (Sometimes a little annoying to us non-morning types! hee hee)

Every office needs a cheerleader, I guess.

I needed another birthday card! I created this one using this week's

Viva la Verve MAR 2012 Sketch Challenge:

I got this pretty stamp-Flower Fields (Stampendous)- on sale at Michael's the other day. I thought it would look good if I heat embossed it with green powder to match this pretty paper from the Alora (BoBunny) collection.These papers are full of bright, springy prints and colors! I love them! 

I punched out a circle in matching green card stock and dry embossed it with a CB folder.

After photographing this card, I think it may have looked better if I had "blinged" it up some more.

I made this card for a very special lady! And I had plenty of inspiration from several of my favorite sources! I fell in love with the color inspiration from this week's color challenge at  CR84FN:

 I fell in love with the sketch from The Cat's Pajama's:

 And the stamp sets and inks from Paper Trey Ink!

The sketch was challenging trying to figure out the placement of the squares! But I did it!
The flowers are stamped with  Beautiful Blooms II and Frilly Flowers (PTI).  I stamped the larger flowers and cut them out. I added pearls to the centers. I adhered them with dimensionals so they would pop from the card.
The panel that the flowers and squares are on was cut at the bottom by one of the On the Edge dies from Tim Holtz-Sizzix called Ornate. I have had this die for a very long time, and I had forgotten about it! I love how how this orange panel turned out!
I hope my friend enjoys this card as much as I enjoyed making it!

CR84FN Yellow, Gray & Kraft Color Challenge

Such beautiful colors together!

 I never would have thought to put these colors together unless 

I had wanted to try this CR84FN Color Challenge!

I just love this sketch!!!!!!

The frame behind the sentiment panel was made with the Fleur De Lis (Spellbinders), which was cut with white card stock (PTI). I made the bow embellishment with seam binding, twine and a butterfly that was cut with my Cricut machine and the cartridge "Serenade".

It has been a long time that I participated in sketch or color challenges.

I forgot how much these challenges can start up your creative juices!

I made this card this weekend for my boss who is having a birthday this week!

She is the sweetest lady and a great sport! She will get a big kick out of this funny card!

I love funny birthday cards and when I saw this stamp (I Brake for Stamps) and this sentiment (Art Impressions-Just Say It) I knew they were meant to be used together!

I used the pretty papers from the Alora (BoBunny) 6x6 pad.

The scalloped border was punched with an EK punch. 

The banner that the words are stamped on is made with the 

Double-Ended Banners die (Paper Trey Ink).

I rolled it with a pen before adhering it down.

 I found these fun buttons in my button stash!

Happy Thursday!

It's the start of my weekend! That's the problem working in dentistry...4 day weeks! :)

On to my card...my DH asked me to make him a card for young man that he mentors. It is his 18th birthday. I have the hardest time creating cards for teens...especially guys!

But I came up with this idea!

 I wanted to utilize the technique featured on the tutorial for this week on Nichole Heady's

Make It Monday #55 for Paper Trey Ink. 

This technique shows how to use smaller frames to make  larger frames. 

I chose the Frame-It (Waltzingmouse) stamp set. I stamped the frames onto watercolor paper, making the 2 frames look like 1 long frame!
I spritzed the paper with water, then sponged it with Citrus and Sail Boat Blue alcohol inks (Ranger). The edges were then sponged with Silver Mixative (Ranger).

The guitar was cut on my Cricut  machine with the Nifty Fifties cartridge, set  at 5".  I sponged the edges with Black Soot Distress ink, and Silver Mixative.
I decided to attach the musical notes with dimensionals to make it look like they were floating around the card!

The sentiment "You Rock" is from the Thanks2You (Stamps of Life) stamp set. 

I added some pizazz with  2 silver embellies!
All of this was then adhered to white card base.
