Paper: White card stock (PTI)

Together discover your dreams

Happy Sunday!
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekends! I am stopping in to share another card that I made this weekend. As I have mentioned before, I am trying to learn this mixed media thing, so I just LOVE Mona's new challenge: A Mixed Media Color Challenge.  It is making me want to create outside the box!!!

And this is my card:

I started by coloring wet watercolor paper with Distress Inks-Tattered Rose, Lemonade and Spun Sugar. I then applied a Gesso wash. I stamped the flowers onto this, but I also stamped the flowers on some white card stock, which I colored with Distress markers. I cut them out into individually and
glued down with Modge Podge. More stamping, a little stenciling with fiber paste, ink squiggles, and a little more gesso. I was really pleased with the way the Gesso softened the colors.
Final touch...buttons, twine and ribbon!

Little mermaid

Happy Saturday!!!!

I wanted to share the card I made for the current
I just loved this sketch.

One of my favorite blogs to follow is susiestampalot. Susan Liles is so talented!
One of the stamp lines that she likes to use is Your Next Stamp
Well...one of the stamps is called Happy Days Mermaid. I just fell in love with her! I just think she so cute, cute, cute! I have been making several cards using this stamp set.

And today's is no exception!

Isn't she precious????

You are not able to see the Stickles on her tail and on the starfish, very well in this photo, but IRL, she is very sparkly! And I used black Liquid Pearls on her bikini top and hair bow. I colored her with Copic Markers. The little crab  may be a bit of a cheat for this sketch, but I thought he was too adorable to leave off of the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!!!

I don't skinny dip

Isn't this funny????

I wanted to participate with Retrosketches this week.

I was in the mood to color, and this ol' broad spoke to me...
not that I could relate to her or anything!

Hope you have a fun, fun day!!!!

My first canvas

I created this canvas about a month ago, but wasn't satisfied with it. I removed a lot of the embellishments and put it aside.  The photo was taken at an Art Gallery show opening that featured some of my son's art work. His girlfriend's sweet parents were there and I took this photo of them with my I Phone. I thought the picture turned out great!  My son's girlfriend's birthday was not too long after this photo was taken, and I got a brilliant idea... I would make a mixed media canvas for it!  Well, needless to say I did not give it to her. I didn't like it! So it has sat on my shelf in my work area.

My son came home to visit this weekend and I showed it to him. He thought I should give it to her!
So I redid a few things and sent it home with my son to give her. Hopefully she will like it.

Thanks for listening to my babble!

A new challenge...Mixed Media!

I simply adore, and love, love, love mixed media!!!!!!
But...
it scares the you know what out of me!
So when I saw that one of my VERY favorite people-Mona Pendleton,
had started a new challenge I was so excited!

And then I saw it was a Mixed Media challenge...Yikes!!!

So I thought and tried and tried and finally I made a card!

First, I chose a pretty patterned paper. I stenciled some areas in white gesso.
I  mixed some pink paint and water into the gesso to make a wash and painted this on.
Lastly,  I used some TH white Picket Fence crackle paint. Hopefully you can see this.

The butterflies were stamped and then fussy cut. I Modge-Podged them to some black card stock and then fussy cut them out again. I stamped the butterflies on the panel beneath where I was going to adhere them, so their antenna would show.  The stamping and squiggles and lines were done with Black Staz On ink. All of the stamps are Tim Holtz.

I was very pleased how this card turned out!

Now onto my second try!!!!!
A journal page!!

This time I even played with some molding paste with the cloud stencils!
I am not liking this page. I feel it is too bright and cheesy!
I think most of the Mixed Media that I see is darker or softer.
I almost didn't post this, but I thought, why not!
The only way to learn is to DO!!!!

Hope to see your creations at Mona's!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Hoot Hoot Hooray!

Hoot Hoot Hooray! I am posting something on my blog!

Naw...I have been making cards! Really!
I just haven't been posting!
I had to make a few Graduation cards. I just fell in love with this owl at the Silhouette Store
Yes, I broke down and purchased a Portrait, not the Cameo. (I am having a hard time figuring this thing out, but I am determined to do so!)

I think this little owl is so stinkin' cute! And owls seem to really be the trend now.

Here are my cards:

Have a fabulous day!
