Just Buzzing by to say...

Just buzzing by to say HI!!!!!
And show ya a birthday card I made for a long distance friend,
who I thought would get a kick out of this sentiment!

And the inside:

Isn't it cute? This is one of my many stamp sets that I have received from my monthly membership to Stamps of Life. This stamp set is called bee4me. You can purchase it Here. I glittered the bee's wings with Stickles and colored their black stripes with Liquid Pearls. I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder and heat gun.

And I used this week's

I just love this sketch with the bow tucked behind the sentiment. And the design team has some beautiful examples to share!

Hope you have a fabulous day!
And thanks for stopping by!

Thank You

***This card was selected as an Honorable Mention by my peers!
I was so honored! Thanks everybody who voted!

Well...I got brave and decided to go for it!
and try the MUSE challenge!
Whoa!!!!

My inspiration from this week's Muse card by the talented Virginia Lu,
was the stamped floral background over the masked circle.

And my interpretation....

The glorious colors are some Hero Art ink pads that I just received. Love them!!!
Of course, as I look at these cards, I see where I should have done more of this and less of that!

But the important thing is...you gotta try!

Stamps:creations2fill, thanks (Stamps of Life); Flower Friends (Simon Says)
Inks: Soft Cantalope, Soft Apricot,Pale Tomato (Hero Arts); Cricket (Recollections)

I made this card with the splitcoaststampers Mix-Ability challenge in mind.
The challenge this week is to use squiggles and lines, etc. which I did by outlining my words and the leaves and stems of the flowers. I even squiggled a few birds in the clouds!!

The background was made with watercolor paper. I misted it really good with water.
I applied some different Distress ink colors to my work pad, added water, then mooshed the paper into the wet inks. I held the paper up so that the inks could move around the paper.  I used some Faber Castell crayons and colored around the edges. Also misted it with some Perfect pearls. It has a really pretty sheen IRL.

I made the flowers with one of my Verve flower dies. I cut them out  and misted them with water. I squished them up and let them dry. After drying,  I inked and painted them with gesso and distress inks.

Hope you like my Mixability card! Because I really like playing with all this stuff!

Humbled...

This last week has been a very tough week on America, especially those in Boston. My heart goes out to all the families affected by this tragedy.
I am always amazed at the strength and goodness of our first responder team members. And that is why I made this card.

Thank you to all the policemen, firemen, EMT, etc. and all the volunteers who worked so quickly and bravely in the face of this horrible incident.

Alcohol Inks

I have been MIA on this blog!!!!! I have been crafting, just not posting!
Hope everybody in blogland is doing well!

I just wanted to share one of the many cards that I made in an Alcohol Inks class that I took last Saturday at the Donna Downey's Studio. Yes, for those who know who Donna Downey is....I live only 45 minutes from her fabulous shoppe and studio! Am I a lucky girl, or what???

My fabulous teacher, Laura Curran, and I had a fabulous time! I was the only one in the class! Whoa!!!

She taught me all kinds of fun things to do with alcohol inks. She had these really pretty collage stamps. I just loved them. I am definitely gonna have to add them to my wish list. That is what I used on this card. Then she taught me how to make landscapes and scenes with the inks. I  might show that some other time (I need much more practice first!)
Laura was so talented! She has so many tips...like using a plexiglass window panel from Home Depot and double-sided tape, to hold your glossy paper  while you are inking. Or using the lid of a storage container for your work area. This probably makes no sense! I need to take photos!

Any how...just wanted to share and say hello!!!!!!
