Friendship

Happy Sunday afternoon!
This is what I did as my DH watched the race and took a nap!
I think I was definitely having more fun than he was!

I wanted to use the colors for the current
Coral ~ Tan ~ Brown

and the sketch is

I made this card with one of my new stamp sets called Ginger "Pictures" Indie Chic (MME),
which came in my August Simon Says Card kit
I stamped the chevrons in 3 rows with Crumb Cake, Soft Suede  (SU) and Coral (MS) inks.
Then I stamped the decorative border in Soft Suede directly to the card base.
I trimmed the chevron panel and attached it to the card base with foam tape.

The tag was cut with my Plantin Schoolbook Cricut cartridge at 3 1/2".
I drew dashes all around the tag with a white gel pen. The sentiment is from a different stamp set called Absolutely Delightful (Simon Says).
I added pretty coral ribbon and twine to the tag. The paper flower is an Antique Paperie Flower sticker.

My Brother's Birthday Card

I made this card for my brother's birthday!
This was cut with the Nifty Fifties Cricut cardtridge. I just love the way it turned out!
This cartridge is full of fun images from that era.
And since we he was born in this era, it is only appropriate that I make a card representing the 50's!

I ran the red background piece thru a Spellbinder's impression plate. The car bumper is some glittery paper, but it doesn't show up very well in this photo. And I used Glossy Accents on the letters (which wasn't completely dry when I took this photo, so it looks a little cloudy!)

...and the inside sentiment was printed on the computer.
I used a Martha Stewart punch to make the balloons, and added some Sew Easy twine for the strings.

I am going to enter this into the
and hope to win one of her new fabulous stamp sets in her random drawing!!!!

AND...it is perfect for the current RETRO challenge at Scrappy Moms!

Circle Flip-It Die

I am entering this card into the current Verve Diva Dare challenge,
which is Birthdays!

As you see...I have used my new Sizzix Circle Flip-It Die again!
I love this thing! I love it so much that I thought I would share a little how-to!

First I cut out my card base with white card stock (5 1/4 x 7). And this is what it looks like:
Fold on the score lines  (short side towards the top).

I took 2  pieces of designer card stock and cut them with the Flip-It die
I actually cut these pieces on the score lines and adhered them to the card:

I used a Spellbinder Circle die and cut out 2 circles to adhere to the 2 center panels.
I cut out the pretty white flowers with my (Simon Says) Fresh Daisies die and placed it against a woodgrain designer paper strip. I adhered this to the front circle:

(As you can see...I changed my mind and decided to stamp the sentiments on pieces of white card stock.)

The little red polka dot flowers were made with punches and tiny white brads.

 Back:

And this is the final result!

Hope you have enjoyed my attempt at a tutorial!

RetroSketch #20

I just tried my hand at this awesome sketch!
It is this week's Retro Sketch Challenge

I fell in love with the sketch and the original card it was based on!

Once again I used the heat embossed vellum technique for the bottom panel.
I stamped the vellum with the Life of the Party Dots (Hero Arts) in Versamark, then heat embossed with white embossing powder.
The gorgeous white die cut flower is a die called Fresh Daisies (Simon Says).
I made the rolled roses with the Rolled Rose and Rolled flower dies (MFT).
All of the papers are from Lively-Authentique 6x6 paper pad.
The sentiment is Friendly Phrase (Verve) and the hexagon is from Studio Calico.

One of my greatest blessings...

Happy Sunday! Hope you have had a glorious day!
It has been beautiful here today...but I still was playing in my scrap room!

My card today was created with these 2 challenges in mind!

CR84FN58
Viva La Verve Sketch Challenge July 2012 Week 3

I hope you can tell that the center panel is vellum that I stamped and heat embossed.
I saw this technique and wanted to try it. Apparently I had some static, so don't look too closely at the splotch in the middle!

The flowers were made by using the Carnation Creations Spellbinders Dies.
I have had these for awhile, but today was the first time that I played with them.
I'm definitely gonna use them again!
I selected the paper for the sentiment because of that little bee! Isn't he cute?!?

Life is Good!

Hello!
Don't you just love pink???? I sure do!
And you can't get much pinker than a flamingo!

This is a S-card. You cut the card base for an A2 card, then fold the front panel to the left, therefore making an S shaped card. And it looks like this when opened.

Inside:

The flamingo was cut with the Life is A Beach Cricut cartridge.
I used the Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge to cut my scalloped oval shapes. The ones on the front are just a tad larger to hide the ones on the inside when it is folded.  Splitcoast Stampers has an excellent tutorial for this type of card. The fun sentiments are from the island2visit (SOL) stamp set.
I added tiny black buttons for some aded details.

I'm gonna enter this card for a few challenges asking for beachy/summer themes.
I think a pink flamingo fits that description!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Feel Better!

Happy Monday!!!!!
I needed to make a card for our sweet mailman!
He had to have knee replacement surgery. For the last several months he has been wearing this huge knee brace. Always faithful and never complaining delivering our mail.
So I wanted to send him a special card to let him know how much we appreciate him and how much we miss him.

I saw a card similar to this one made by Christine Meyer in the July Cards magazine.
I thought this idea would be perfect, but I wanted to add a mailbox.
The house was stamped onto the DP with houses4us (SOL) stamp. I cut it out and put it on the blue paper to represent the sky. I felt the dry embossing made it look like the wind and clouds.
I cut out the fence and ran it thru a woodgrain EF to give it some dimension!
The green grass was cut with the Fresh Cut Grass (MFT) die. And the clouds were cut with the Flat Bottom Clouds (MFT). All of this together made a really cute scene!
 I hope he likes it!

"Fleas" Navidad!

CHRISTMAS IN JULY CHALLENGE #1
Make a Christmas card using a hand stamped, digital stamped or
Cricut cut image of an animal, and any colors you'd like!

I made this cute Santa puppy with the Paper Pups Cricut cartridge.
I added Frosted Lace Stickles to his fur on his jacket and hat. And I added White Enamel Accents to his mustache and beard. Hopefully you can see that in the photo!
And the wiggly eyes gave him some personality!
I did the sentiment on the computer and cut it out banner style.
The background paper is from the Old World Winter (Paper Studio) paper pad.
The card base is Kraft. I happened to have the star button in my button stash.
And the twine is Maraschino (The Twinery)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

ENJOY THE RIDE

I got out some of the papers and stamps that I have collected from the last 3
Studio Calico Kits of the Month. (did that sentence make sense????)
Anywhoo...this is what I came up with.
I needed to use a sun for one of the challenges and it needed to be a Cricut cartridge. I chose this sun and clouds from the Simply Charmed cartridge, because I didn't want to be cutesy with this card.
The sun was cut at 3" and the clouds were cut 2 and 21/2 ".
I think this sun matches the paper perfectly.
The sentiment is stamped on paper that I cut from the Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge.
It is on page 25-Oblong/Shift at 2 1/2 inches.
I inked the edges with Copic markers before putting everything together.

I hope you enjoy the ride on this bright sunshiny day!

Absolutely delightful

I decided to try the colourQchallenge #144!!!!

What fabulous colors! I would never think to try them together!
And this is what I came up with...

I think I like these colors together!
That is the fun of trying new challenges. It makes me think outside my usual box!

I die cut the butterfly and adhered it with foam dots, so it would pop up from the blue background.
I added black pearls to make the body.

And I love this sentiment!!!!
It comes from this fabulous stamp set that I got in my stamp kit this month from Simon Says!
It is absolutely delightful!!

Happy Birthday

I wanted to play with the Retro Sketch Challenge for this week!

I think the designers for this site are so talented! I am always inspired by their creations!

And I chose my colors from the scrumptious color selection for the current
CR4FN Color Challenge!
Bright Pink ~ Tan ~Neutral

I used several stamps and inks to create the butterflies.
First, I die cut 4 butterflies (MFT) on copy paper. I then used this as a template.
I placed the template onto white card stock and taped it down with some post it notes.
I stamped the butterfly template with different stamps with Picked Raspberry ink.
Second, I chose a different stamp and color (Antique Linen) and stamped over the butterflies again.
And last, before removing the template, I sponged the edges with Antique Linen ink.
I removed the template and I had these beautiful butterflies!
This technique is called Reverse Masking with Die cuts. I read about it on
Heather Nichol's blog. She has a great tutorial for this technique!

I stamped 2 more butterflies from PTI Beautiful butterflies stamp set. I fussy cut one pair and adhered them to the bottom butterflies. Added some pink gems, and tied some button twine with a nice pink button to finish the card.

Thanks for stopping by!
