You're Very Special

Happy New Year!!!!

I especially wanted to participate in this week's retrosketches because it is Arielle's birthday!
Her team mates hijacked the site and asked everyone to send her a birthday card! I am a big admirer, so I wanted to make a card for the occasion.

Happy Birthday, Arielle!!!!!

The sentiment is from a brand new stamp set that I just received in the mail this week from Simon Says Stamps January Card Kit. It is called Very Special (Simon Says), so I thought it was perfect for this occasion.

And the pretty papers are also from this card kit. They are from the Lily B 6x6 Persnickity paper pad.
I finished with some Licorice twine and a green button.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

CR84FN #69

Welcome back to CR84FN Color Challenge! I am so glad to be back, especially with these fabulous colors! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends, and are looking forward to 2013! Yahoo!!!!

On to our current color challenge:
Raspberry ~ Lavendar ~ Neutral

Unfortunately, I needed to make a sympathy card for a very dear friend of mine.  I just loved the raspberry and lavender color selection, so I wanted to use them for this card.  I was hoping the browns and creams would really soften the raspberry and lavender, since it was going to be a sympathy card.  And they really turned out nice together!

I found some really cool papers at Michael's called Industrial Chic by Susan Lenart Kazmen. Are you familiar with her stuff? I just discovered her!!  Lots of cool papers, and charms, etc...! I didn't want to cover the this pretty scripted paper so I decided to heat emboss the sentiment (Verve) onto some vellum, so the pretty script and soft colors would show through. I used eggplant ink with clear embossing powder for the sentiment.
I always like butterflies for a sympathy card, and I just LOVE this die by Memory Box so I just had to use them again!

I added some stitching to the back panel and across the top of the vellum panel.

I hope this card brings a little comfort to my friend.

We are SO excited to have a guest designer joining us this month- Lisa Snowdy!!!! Please visit her blog and leave her some love!

Retrosketch #42

The inspiration for this card was this week's RetroSketch!

I wanted to use some of this pretty paper that I got a few weeks ago. I love stamping and heat embossing on vellum, so I decided to try that for the vertical panels shown on the sketch. A big flower was the perfect focal point, I tried to match it as closely as possible to the flowers on the paper. I cut several layers with the Spellbinder's Rose die. I added some Picket Fence stain and Rock Candy Stickles onto the petals. And finished it with a pretty brad for the center of the flower.
The sentiment is from MFT and it is stamped on my brand new Simon Says Stamps Banner die!
It cuts and scores!! And the pretty leaves are also MFT!

Christmas Goodies!

Hello and Happy Holidays everyone!
I know I have been MIA for the last couple of weeks.
But I have definitely been stamping, just not posting. I am sure all of you have been busy, too.
I wanted to share some tags and such that I have been making to go along with some goodies that I will be sharing with friends and neighbors for the holidays!
First:

Hershey Nugget Rockers!

Are these not the cutest and funniest little snowmen??? They rock!!!

I got this idea from a tutorial on SplitcoastStampers called Hershey Nugget Rockers. Beate used a santa stamp, but I decided to use my Cricut (DoodleCharms)! I cut these snowmen at 1/1/2 inches, but next time I think they should be a little bigger. And I got a great idea for the hershey nuggets wrappers from Cardz TV! Mary takes a page of address labels and stamps them all over with 2-3 ink colors. Then she peels the label off and wraps it around the Hershey nugget!!! Much easier than cutting, measuring and adhering dp!!

And these are the tags I made:

Are these not adorable???
I got this idea from Cardz TV, also. Mine are a little different from the ones that Mary made.
I used Liquid Applique on their arms and legs to look like icing! And I took a white pen and made hash marks around the edges. The fun banners (Wild Card) were cut with my Cricut, too! Their little faces are Peachy Keen stamps. I whitened their eyes with a gel pen and blushed their cheeks with some pink chalk.
Cute! Cute! I am going to tie these to some cookies! Yum!

Hope I've given you a little inspiration today!

CR48FN Week 2

We are back with week 2 of the current CR84FN Color Challenge!

I am just loving the rich regal colors for this current color challenge
 Burgundy, Gray and Cream.
They are perfect for a masculine card which I needed to make for one of my favorite guys.
I wanted to make a pretty card to make it special, but I didn't want it to be too frou-frou(is this a word???)

And this is what I made:

I have been crazy about the Santa Claus MME 6x6 paper pad this year. I have almost used the entire pad and that is unusual for a finicky girl like me! But the papers are just so elegant and beautiful.
After I decided which papers that I was going to use, I took them to my sewing machine and did a little zigzag stitching around all the edges. (I am still learning how to sew, don't look to closely ;D)

The focal point of the card is a pretty Verve snowflake, which I stamped with Versamark ink, then heat embossed with silver embossing powder. I then adhered the snowflake to the burgundy striped die cuts, which were cut my Mat Stack (PTI) dies.

The greeting was also stamped with Versamark ink and  then heat embossed with silver embossing powder.

Now grab your favorite inks, stamps & papers, and create a card or LO with these beautiful colors!
And please share it with us by linking to our site!
We love seeing everybody's creations!

We are going to take a short break after this challenge for the holidays. I can't believe
Christmas is almost here and then it will be Happy New Year 2013!!!!
