Enjoy Today!

Today's card was inspired by the Viva La Verve Sketch Challenge #4 by Teresa Kline .

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-yGDBWMWPehRYFL6wHfUmpy3Qfn1qZn3bC8DW8o06itH817GANtptApAclyS10mlwU52pb_IXiXQtI4emOOrXnePOOcLL6Zc6QmQKDqre-JKciHOgUJfhTqBhhYRZpGEvfkieLyC-FnZT/s1600/VLVJun11Week4Sketch.jpg

I loved this sketch, but it was a difficult one for me.  I had an idea in mind but I just could not get the balance right. But I think I like the final result. Do you ever have one of those days?????

The yellow panel has been sponged and crimped to give it some detail.
The dark pink fillagree behind the yellow panel is one of the tags from the Fancy Tags Two (Spellbinders) die. I cut it into 2 pieces and then placed the pieces on either side of the yellow panel.
As you can see, this whole panel was adhered to a white doily.
I wanted to have a daisy on the sentiment to match the daisies on the DP, but I didn't have any! Hmph!
So...I made this daisy with my Cricut Expression and  Mother's Day 2011 cartridge.
I added a yellow button and sparkled it up with some  Crystal Stickles, (you can never have too much SPARKLE!!!!) And Voila! a Daisy!!
I finished the card with some yellow satin ribbon. Stuck 2 hat pins in the bow
and ta da!!! Done!

I decided to enter this into the Shabby Tea Room Challenge, too.
The challenge - "My Favorite Things"
Well...I used my favorite colors-pink and yellow!
my favorite stamps-Verve! My Cricut Expression
And I love, love , love flowers!
So , I think this card qualifies!

Thanks for looking! And thanks for the comments! I love reading them!

JUGS90

                                                                   (Card Open)

The challenge for the Just Us Girls Challenge for this week:
Make a 3-D project or template with a patriotic theme!

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKpT2Z4u8koFKgD5Q7wiM08RirSi90DG9XEsGZ-yPBDlL4dJZNhVBXpm7QzDIX7yr3dsLgJEW1-s3xTFt-EWRbByLwGb4XyjXx0HoFACaFPKmcxcCRkU_ytZzTK0VokDnFHBEnDZU14T0/s1600/JUGS90.jpg

I thought this Swing(Flip-Flop) Card could be considered 3-D and patriotic!
What do ya think?
I got the instructions how to make this card from Splitcoaststampers Resources. Wonderful tutorials!!!
There is one sentiment on the front of the card and another on the flip side. Both are from the American Hero(Verve) stamp set. I just love this stamp set!

  (Card Closed)

The paper and embellishments are all from the We R Memory Makers MVP paper pad. I punched some buttons with a Martha Stewart punch. I think I would have liked this card better, if I had sponged all the edges. Oh well.....
I am sending this card to the young man that I know who is now in Afghanistan. Please pray for his and the other soldiers fighting in this war.

Thanks for stopping by! And I love hearing from you!

Happy Birthday, Son!

I got my color inspiration for this card from the colors selected at

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtN8QB1wVNEMnrwH2oMGNBd0X9Q7gnE1T0b-aeERvYWieUPeb6uLhtQAfF55swA1YHfQP9v24P3UsWZeb9cMlwijaig5ZzLt_5KOm7-7sF3NUyVoqv3kMZgpDKF0N6Yqt0Yoii8hL5Jmy8/s1600/0PDCC87.jpg

This card is a combination of stamping and inspiration and love.
My son is going thru a little bit of a  rough time right now.
He has been working at the NC Museum of Art for the last 7 years, and due to budget costs, he will be laid off next week. He is thinking that he wants to start his own Art Handling
business, as well as spend more time on his art.
(He is a graduate from The Design School at N.C. State).

So...not only did I want to make a Birthday card for him,
I also wanted to make an inspirational card for him.
I used stamps, but I also wanted to add some "art" aspects to his card,
because he is a very talented artist!

I painted, I dabbed, I stenciled, I distressed, I sponged and I misted this card.
It was such a good feeling making this card.
It was fun using this creative side of my brain.

I stamped the inside message with the Verve "Happy Thoughts" stamp set
I misted over this with the Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Coffee Shop.

I really like the way the birthday card turned out!
Thanks for stopping by. I would really like to hear your feedback!

Another Birthday!

Happy Birthday, Faith!!!!!!
I made this sweet card for one of my niece's who is going to be 15 next week!
I can't believe it! She is so grown up! And turning into a real cutie, too!

I used the Cricut to make this card. The ice cream cone is from the cartridge "Sweet Treats',
cut at 4 inches.  I cut the ice cream 2 times so that I could pop up the top scoop with foam tape.
Before I put the ice cream together I ran the 2 pieces through a Tim Holtz/Sizzix Swirls embossing folder.  I ran the cone through the Stampin Up/Sizzix lattice folder. I thought it made the cone look like a waffle cone (my favorite!!) To add sparkle,  I put Stickles on the sprinkles and candle.

The ice cream cone then was adhered to a doily. I dotted the designer paper edges with silver Liquid Pearls

One of my favorite blogs is "My Craft Spot". The challenge this week was anything sweet!
Well...what is sweeter than ice cream----my niece!!!!!
So, I linked this card to this blog.
Check out this blog- Great Ideas!!!!!!!!

Birthday Wishes!

This is a card that I have made for my Mom's birthday. She will be 83! I can't believe it! Mentally, she is still sharp as a tack, but she has physical handicaps due to a benign brain tumor that she had 11 years ago. She was a very talented artist, but that stopped after her brain surgery. So she really gets a kick out of my cards and my scrap booking. She knows how much fun and peace you can have with a creative outlet.

My inspiration was from this week's CAS-ual Fridays Color Block Challenge.

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNMK4pWcTmu590-27Ix0dMwU93WFY9DLwg8-DBpoEUJV7s-kUCh_3bzqxK5w7uG5gtADPMXnUJom4utY-_wbSRRVB-kJJiZ7w_KPPlRdipB60hyphenhyphenkzlHW2bhmp8h1eM3JVmFxn7FSSuPMM/s1600/FotoFlexer_Photo-CFC7.jpg

I have never tried  Color Block before.  I thought I would give it a whirl.  It means to place   blocks or areas of color next to each other to form a cohesive design in your Clean And Simple creation!

And to make it a little easier, the colors for this week's Play Date Cafe Color Challenge were  perfect for my first attempt.

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGZwlf7IinXU6TB83310B-JW7o65kBYxWEId0cNcXjN5s_UPULOqvww8DYfKRLFlUTNOqVxUxL9xqKXGUiRukW4jQUFZ2J5gOZMvVophyadTCNhVmo1L-5vNIJLPpfXVv-MKLY13w6-vSn/s1600/0PDCC86.jpg

I used the Beautiful Blooms II-1 (Paper Trey) dies to cut out the flowers. I then put a button with green embroidery thread from the Sew Easy on the center of each flower with a glue dot.
The sentiment is from Fancy Phrases (Waltzingmouse Stamps). This stamp set is made to be compatible with the Fancy Tag dies from Spellbinders.
I then drew the black lines around the flowers with a Pitch Black Spica pen. I was very nervous about doing this technique.  I watched a video tutorial on the Paper Trey blog. The instructions were excellent. I always love this blog, because it is so informative and inspirational. I will definitely try this again! I think it really gives the card a polished look.

Thanks for stopping by! I love your comments and feedback!

American Hero

I made this card to send to Jon,who is the son of one of my very good friends.
He left for his first tour of Afghanistan 5 weeks ago. He is such a good young man.
Please pray for him and all the soldiers fighting for our country.

I got my inspiration for this card from this week's  Mojo Monday Sketch #195:

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNrBmWQqANkHhXDSn2si_QOMtaGm5-GVMyufIxScqtykUTi5WA_ZjlJjIbKr8zo5e4t7Sj7NcwgV7xX300pNme3Atn0Pl2ZdwUOBil7GvhL9YWRSI8LyT1c6uGtAbiNaKbs8Fd1r6NbbZ0/s1600/Mojo195Sketch.gif

The sentiment is from a stamp set American Hero that Verve Stamps has on sale this month. When I saw this stamp set, I just knew it would be perfect for  the cards that I plan to send to Jon. I changed a few things with the sketch. I substituted stars for flowers in the lower left corner of the sentiment. I cut the stars out of the designer paper that is used for the background panel. And as you can see, I also made a rectangle instead of a circle for the sentiment. The little rows of stars behind the sentiment were made with a fun Star Border Die-Namics die from My Favorite Things.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Friend!

I created this card for the bi-weekly CR84FN Color Challenge

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWWOGYHTOMRpsrox6qCFkrvFeNiKjT_g7Os-4kCVejJ2dzUFR606myLB0wNgkU4Y2AgMRbjcYXujgl4x3aBhzkhoCDubedYoQ06kvp2scR54d8QTNNoFaCTdw2ncV_BwUlroXf4CBz5NU/s1600/CR84FN31+Graphic.jpeg

And I was also inspired by The Shabby Tea Room Challenge:

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAttcmDtgu5prjH-Atv6mJSxDLrUkQK-MeM1mJ3mKclroUUoKJi97ol7uJlFODv1ZaJ_3YhEUmwatYYamFw95KGPdlfjQ-JdtWZhO-nlxVfy9wjjYAG88fNPmTlenRKtSIB4rdGM-t3_0/s1600/Photo+inspiration+%252366.jpg

I really liked the way this card turned out. I just love the heart and the sentiment, which are from Verve Stamps.  The layout of this card is from one of my favorite sketches. It was one of the sketches designed by Amber Hight for the April Viva la Verve Sketch challenges.

I wrapped ribbon twice around the card. I attached the heart with dimensionals. I attached the pink flowers with pearl brads. I accented the flowers by adding the cream roses. I felt the flowers needed something else, so I then stamped and die cut some leaves with the Verve Elegant Leaves die and Bloom & Grow stamp set. The ink is SU Pear Pizazz.

Hope you have enjoyed my post!

Pinwheels!

I made this fun card this past weekend!

It was made using the Pin Wheel Die and Stamp set from Lil Inkers.  The die was so easy to use! Just cut six pieces of double sided designer paper with the die. Stack the pieces and attach one end with a brad, fold over the the other ends to the brad and voila! a pin wheel! I glued a lollipop stick (which can be purchased in packs of 50 from Wal-Mart for about $2.00) to the back with a large Glue Dot. This paper was from my stash and I do not know who it is by! I think Cosmo Cricket??? The sentiment is from the Sentiment Flags Die and Stamp set by Lil Inker.  Lots of fun! I cut several out and took them to my friends at our weekly scrap and card making group. They loved them, too!

Have fun!!! Thanks for stopping by!

Belated Birthday!

Oops! I forgot one of my friend's birthday! His was one of the first ones of the month and somehow I skipped it! So I hope this card will make up for it!

I created this card using the Verve Diva, Andrea Ewen's sketch that she designed for the Viva La Verve June 2011 Week Two  Sketch Challenge:
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMEKwJFUHJ6TRySpCBFvk_2i6BS7id2wGIVdmCl_9n-x5sPPabvwMbGFq7_0ltmoXfj_FvK_CsA8TTgU3VXza4DIOfVOuaf6sgZRHIIIgCRZ7-Hen-3vq0DHiXZ6RbH-rw5sD15dntVzQh/s1600/VLVJun11Week2Sketch.gif
I needed to make a masculine card, so I chose the papers from We R Memory Keepers-MVP collection. I think this sketch and these colors look great together!
Stamps of Life has a great stamp set for late birthdays called late4Bday
The scallops were made by punching 1" circles. This is how Julee Tilman of MojoMonday did hers.
I thought that was a great idea! I wrapped some tan seam binding about 4 times around the panel. I then tied a bow with some twine and added the little flower. That is a brown button brad in the center of the flower. I put 2 orange rhinestones in the top 2 corners to balance the orange flower.

Thanks again for stopping by!  I really enjoy your comments!

Happy Birthday - Mojo Monday 194

Happy Sunday! I've had a good day, because I have been in my craft room all afternoon!
I did my "chores" yesterday, so today I could play today!

The card above is for another one of my friends having a birthday this month.

The papers are from the K& Company -Watercolor Bouquet paper pad. I just love this paper pad.
All my favorite colors! I sponged each panel with Dusty Concord Distress Ink. As you can see, I also made a medallion. There is a flower underneath the button on the medallion. You can barely see it in
this photo. I also pulled out My Lil Inkers Flags & Sentiments Die and Stamp set:

VLVJUN2011-1 and PDCC84

Well, I've been creating, but not blogging! So... I have lots to share today!
First of all, hope everyone is doing OK. I'm great, except for the hot weather we have been having. Thank goodness for air conditioning (and my craft room)!!!!!

June is a BIG BIRTHDAY month for me. Most of my family and friends, including myself, have birthdays in the month of June. And a wedding and a graduation! So I'm gonna have lots of fun, and excuses for stamping!

My first card that I want to share with you was made for a very dear friend, who is having
the Big"50" Birthday on Friday.  So I had to make her a special card! Instead of being too mean with the "Over the Hill" stuff, I decided to make a pretty card with a little humor added in.

As you can see, this card was designed with this week's

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgI2ZoodvghlyIDlQgedJ62djQutxlUSiQpcfUw6xxxaOk_48JpIQShrMazcn121wcqi-u5WpBu5k9phkBPcO3PDeeZFPBkrV5oZw45-YsMTWUr9Em7_xCTfSBgtRog4dDSrEZC_JHbXXVg/s1600/VLVJun11Week1Sketch.jpg

And I chose the color scheme from the colors that were asked to be used with the

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJtXYFho2PISxq9566W5uYP506lJ5SH73HU695Xjg4DVLqbLfOGvqjeRf8dOvygb01R0xZ8MSo9Q5M05rNoKWIUQs4nt1BFmfyXwqWLiZzkOtp1Fr8HhfHMzm3Ev68mL3oVICucnUkM-4g/s1600/PDCC84.png

I thought the papers from the "Me and My Big Ideas-Bliss" paper pad were perfect for the Play Date Cafe Challenge , as well as a festive birthday card.
(As a matter of fact, I use this paper selection again in another card that is included with this post.)

The numbers were stamped on Neenah paper with a stamp set by Stamps of Life called numbers4cake. I colored the numbers with Copic Markers. I added some dots around the middle paper panels with some silver Liquid Pearl. Added some green pearls to the left side to balance the green bow.
The "50" is framed by layers made with the Scallop Oval, Oval and Label 16 Nesties.

This is a closer look:

And the inside sentiment:

This sentiment above is from Stamps of Life -greetings4birthday.

Hope my friend likes this card!

Paper: Me & My Big Ideas-Bliss; Bazzill
Stamps: Stamps of Life "numbers4cake" and greetings4birthday
Spellbinders: Petite Scalloped Ovals, Petite Ovals, Label 16
Liquid Pearls, Su Punch, green pearls, green Snug Hug seam binding

Next.. is a Birthday card that I made for my very sweet niece! She is going to be 10 years old!
I wanted to make her something fun and not too babyish, but not too old.
I saw this on my favorite punch art blog-Punch Art Addiction and fell in love with this bird! Perfect!
This bird is made with Stampin' Up punches! Go check out this blog for lots of fun ideas!

Isn't this the cutest card????? The bird is so silly, but adorable!
I hope she likes it ( I know she'll like the $ surprise inside!).

Paper: Stampin Up Baja Breeze, Tangerine
and Me & My Big Ideas-Bliss
SU Punches, Sizzix Dies, SU Baja Breeze seam binding

...and  finally a Graduation card:

This  graduation card was very simple to make.
The cap, stars and sentiment are from a Jolee's Boutique sticker set.
The lined paper is from a Jennibowlin Memo Pad
The background paper was designed on the computer and printed onto cream card stock.
It just says his name, year, school and congrats over and over. I also got this idea from the internet.

Hope you have enjoyed viewing my cards.

Thanks for stopping by! I love, love, love reading your comments!
