VLVMar2011 Week #5

Happy Hump Day!

Well...this card is my last one for the Viva la Verve Sketch Challenge. Isn't it sweet?

This is the sketch that we needed to follow:
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-1R9N8dr2yNKpST6cj82Ze4fxgN6bEWwEraWildl8MC0Gs9-9Uraj2SUm4Vg6I8ONE5mitLzHmxrA7HA2O4ye1PuOPMAN-WFQRUYlr3Q2ahMSKQJXLyyIvHtGsaT_3EDWFTlIgdT_IjXn/s1600/VLVMar11Week5Sketch.jpg

So, I made a card for a very special couple , who will be celebrating their anniversary next week.
I had a lot of fun with this card, because I used a die I have had for quite awhile, but have been afraid to use.  It is the Rolled Flower die from My Favorite Things. Aren't these flowers darling? The trick is to use a light weight card stock, such as the SU Vintage Spring paper , which I used with these flowers.
My other favorite part of this card is the repeat use of the stamp along the bottom panel of the card. You may need to click on the photo to see this detail. This sentiment is from Verve's stamp set  "Text Objects", as well as the hearts. I just love this stamp set!  The sentiment on the white panel is from Unity & Co. I am a member of their Kit of the Month club. Awesome!
I inked all the edges, put it together and added the twine and button!

Paper:Basic Grey-Kioshi;SU Vintage spring;Bazzill
Ink:SU  Early Espresso
Stamps: Verve "Text Objects"; Unity & Co-KOM May 2010
Accessories: MFT Rolled Flower Die; twine; button

Thanks so much!

Hey ya'll ! Here is a very simple card!
And I made this card with punches!
I used the SU 1 1/4 " square punch and punched a square in pink card stock, then another in the designer paper. I trimmed the designer paper square to be a little smaller than the pink card stock square. This is the body of the pocketbook. I then used the 1 1/2 circle punch and punched a  circle in the pink card stock and  a 1 1/4 punch of the designer paper to make the flap of the pocketbook. I added ribbon for the handle and a sweet ribbon and pearl.  I stamped the  sentiment from a Stamps of Life stamp set.
And....Ta da!! Easy Peasy! And so cute!

Thanks for stopping by! And I really enjoy hearing your comments! Thanks!

Another VLVMAR2011 Week 2

Happy Sunday! Hope you and your families have had a good day. Today has been gray and misty...the perfect day to stamp and make cards! Whee!!!! So I made 2 cards today for 2 different challenges. Have you noticed? I love sketches!

This is my second card using the  Viva la Verve Week 2  sketch.  A very simple, yet pretty sketch.
http://vervestamps.com/VLV/VLVMar11Week2Sketch.jpg
I used some Graphic 45 Christmas paper. I love this paper and I didn't think it looked like Christmas. Why couldn't I use it now?  So...I did!
This is a close up of the embellishment and satin ribbon:

                                                          Ink: Distress Ink "Tea Dye"

Happy Birthday

Hello everyone! Today's card is my second card using the  Viva la Verve Week 4 Sketch.
I wanted to use my new Stamps of Life (Cake2build and numbers4cake) stamp sets.
I loved this sketch, so I thought I would use it again!
Once again I am using Stampin Up paper. I just love all these pink papers. I am in the spirit of spring!!!
I hope that you can see that I embossed the cake stand with silver, then used Stickles to "paint" the glass plate. I stamped and paper pieced the cake layers. For a finishing touch, I  used  Liquid Pearls between each cake layer. I stamped the rose topper and colored it with Copic Markers. I then cut out the rose and attached it to the top of the cake with a dimensional.

Stamps: Stamps of Life -cakes2build, numbers4cake
Paper: Stampin Up -Spring Time Vintage
Ink:VersaMark
Accessories: Heat gun: Black & Silver embossing powder;
Liquid Pearls;Stickles;Nesties;MFT Die-Namics Open Scallop Die

CR84FN Color Challenge & VLVMAR2011 Week 4 Challenge

Ummmmm.....don't ya just love these colors! So rich and elegant! Once again I got my paper from a paper pad from K&Co.  They have such pretty paper. And I love that they are double sided.

I made this card today for 2 challenges. The sketch is from the Viva la Verve Weekly Challenge.

The color challenge is from the weekly CR84FN Color Challenge:

Get Your Diva On GYDOMar142011

Happy Spring Time!
My favorite season is here! The pear trees, now the cherry trees are blooming.
And I'm a sneezing! But that's OK! It's just so beautiful here in North Carolina this time of year!

On to this card. The Get Your Diva On Challenge starts on the 2nd Monday of each month. The challenge is to use all neutrals:white, ivory, gray, black or brown, with a splash of color to represent the arrival of Spring. The winner of the challenge will get to be a Guest Diva in an upcoming Verve Stamp release and will receive all of the stamps/dies for that release for free!
Doesn't that sound divine???
I made this card using all white cardstock except for the flower. I dry embossed one panel with the Swirls die by Tim Holtz and the Dotted Swiss die by Cuttlebug.
The sentiment is from Verve and the banner is stamped and die cut with  Lil Inkers
The flower was fun to make! You punch 4 labels with the Stampin Up Modern Label Extra Large Punch, and another  label using the Stampin Up Curly Label punch. I got this idea from  a blogger whose name is Valita. Her blog is fantastic, especially if you are interested in punch art. Wow!
I placed a button in the middle of the flower  to give it a little pizazz. and finsihed it with placing 3 silver blings on the lower right corner.

Hope you like my Spring card!

Thanks for stoppin' by!  And... I really enjoy reading your comments. Thanks!

Like a morning dream...

I discovered a new blog and challenge that I wanted to participate in.

The blog is called CR84FN Color Challenge.

These colors really got my creative juices flowing. This is my entry!
As usual, my camera and camera skills, or both are not capturing the true colors in this card. It is very frustrating!

Hope you like it! And check out this blog...great ideas!!!

You are in my thoughts and prayers.....

Someone I know lost their son to liver disease. How sad for her and her family. I wanted to let her know how much I am thinking about her and her family so I made this card for her.

My camera does not show these colors very well. The designer papers are from Stampin Up and they are much prettier than my photo shows. The background paper is a dark chocolate brown with words going thru it. It looks green in this photo! And I have it adhered to a soft pink paper. Can you tell?

First, I dry embossed the panel with a Cuttlebug folder. I hand stitched the pink scallop to that panel
( because I had a fight with my sewing machine and the machine won!) I stamped the Verve tag and then cut it it out with the matching Sweet Scallop Tag die! I just love Verve stuff! I tied a bow around this. I pulled bakers twine thru the tag and then thru the pink button and tied it to the bow.
I distressed the edges of the chocolate paper before I adhered it to the pink card stock.
Hope you like it.

Paper: Stampin Up from the Occasions Mini catalog
                                 Ink: SU Early Espresso
                              Stamps: Stamps of Life; Verve
Accessories: Sweet Scallop Tag Die by Verve; Scalloped Edge Die by MFT Die-namics:
                      Cuttlebug Embossing folder-Friends Forever; Cappuchino baker's twine by The Twinery;
button and ribbon from my stash

Mojo Monday Sketch #181

I just loved this sketch on the Mojo Monday Sketch Blog, when I saw it and thought I would have to give it a try. I followed the sketch almost 100%....my flower is to the left, not the right..oops!!!! But I still like it anyway! I used lots of different stuff. It was fun! I just couldn't stop adding stuff. Sometimes I get a little carried away!    heehee
I just loved making this flower with this Sizzix die.

                                                      Paper: Cosmo Cricket & Bazzill
                                                                     Stamp: Verve-Circular Sayings
                                                                  Ink: Distressed Walnut Stain
                                                    Accessories: Sizzix Flower layers with Leaf;
Spellbinders Circles & Scalloped Circles; Stickles; Stickers; punches and paper piercer

Hope you like it! Happy creating!!!!!

Beautiful Tags!

Happy Thursday! I'm off today!!!! Yeah!!! More time to play with my favorite stuff....paper!!!!
But first, I wanted to share what I made at a class that I took Tuesday night. We in this area are very lucky , because we have the "Donna Downey Studio" in this area! If you don't know who she is, well...let me tell you! She is a very talented artist, who also designs for Unity Stamps.
Another talented lady, Amy Patterson, taught this class using steampunk design. This is different from what I usually do, but I love trying new things! Look closely at the photo. I love the tag in the middle, because of the ribbon technique, See how it is wrapped around the little tag? So simple, yet so pretty.
We used distress inks, glimmer mists, distressing tools, prima flowers and bling!
This class was very much fun. I'm definitely going to use this in more of my paper creations!

VLVMAR2011 Week 2

I also worked on this card this weekend for the Viva la Verve Week #2 challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com. You really need to check out this website. So many great ideas for cards AND scrapbooking projects! I highly recommend it!
Of course, the challenge should include stamps from the Verve collection. The phrase is from "Big Wish" and the background stamp is from "Love Notes" which has been cut with the matching die called "Classy Label". All from Verve!
Other die used was Beaded Circles from Spellbinder.
The designer paper is Cosmo Cricket:Girl Friday Collection.
Ink: Ranger Distress Ink in colors Walnut Stain and Peeled Paint.
I used Viva Pearl Pen around edges of the beaded circle in Kiwi. I added some ribbon and a button!
And there you go!
Hope you enjoy!

Dr. Peleaux's birthday!

Hello! I just had fun making a card for one of my bosses. I work for two of the nicest women and one of them is having a birthday this week! Don't tell her...but she kinda looks like this stamp!
Hee! Hee! Hope she likes this card!
It was very easy to make! I'm not sure who makes this stamp, nor the designer paper!
I pieced the paper for her dress and used Copic markers to color the rest.
I placed 3 pink eyelets in the upper right corner. Oh yeah, the rectangle and scalloped rectangle were cut with Spellbinder Nestabilitie dies.
"Happy Birthday, Dr. Peleaux!" is stamped on the inside!
